Non-Music: Best of 2008
This is a first for this blog.
Since 2008 is coming to a close.
I should do a best of stuff that isn’t music related.
Top Film
Batman: The Dark Knight would be on my list but I haven’t seen it *gasp* yet. So I can’t really express about how great the film is from word of mouth and buzz.
One film that I would want to mention and bought on DVD
Its Disney/Pixar’s Wall•E
Who can’t love the adorable Wall•E.
Pixar make such great movies with nice visual animations.
This movie with the cuteness factor will have a dark overtone theme about Man’s destruction of Earth.
Great job Pixar for such great storytelling.
Won’t give it away but the ending made me cry but in a happy way.

Who can’t love this robot??
Best DVD
Chungking Express: Criterion collection
I was so happy that Criterion decided to put out this film on DVD and Blu-Ray.
This was the first film that got me hooked into Wong Kar-Wai’s work.
Also with the lovely Faye Wong in the film.
Got to love how many times California Dreamin’ has been played in this film.
But the image quality just blows you away. Even I’m blown away considering Hong Kong films never get alot special treatment.
Even the sound quality is amazing too.
Nothing spectacular with the extras except for the commentaries. The commentaries is great since you get alot of insight about the film, director and cast.

I swear Criterion should try to release more Hong Kong films besides Wong Kar-Wai’s works or John Woo.
Best Moment of 2008
I would have to say Barack Obama winning the 2008 Presidential Election.
The Americans wanted change and they finally got the change that will be in the history books.
I was glued to the TV watching John Stewart and Stephen Colbert (Since that was the only thing that was interesting to watch).
It was a historic moment that the USA has elected a first African America for a President.
Hope Obama will make a great President starting in 2009.
Another great moment was SNL when Tina Fey who was a deadringer for Sarah Palin.
Sure was great comedy moments SNL had during the Election.
Favorite line has to be when she said “I can see Russia from my house”
SNL hasn’t gotten great ratings until what Tina Fey did.
Thus so far on 2008
