Bands Undone: Sadie Hell (Review)

Feeling out of a funk from the crazy Boxing Day insanity or the holidays.
On December 27th, Sadie Hell did a Bands Undone session at Canteen.
It was a really plugged-in session. Not the typical low-key intimate acoustic sessions.

Ben Welland of Sadie Hell sang three tracks from the long awaited debut album.
He was accompanied by May-Jun who did vocals and guitar.

It was a fun and lively session, even lavish with the Sadie Hell banner on the wall, lime-green lamp and blankets.

Jan 2, 2010 at Club Saw. The band will be playing a show there.
It is a All-Ages show too.

MW2K: Top 10

Is everyone enjoying their holidays so far?
Now the time has come to reveal my Top 10 album of the decade (2000-2009) which I called it MW2K (check out the FULL 100 albums there).
In the top 10, I had to put in a tie which makes this a Top 11.
We have four Canadians, three British and four Americans.
So here it is.
Also a footnote, this listing is based on the CD that I have owned so if I didn’t add someone like The Killers (who should have been in the list) its because I don’t have the CD.

Dec 20th @ Raw Sugar Cafe

It was a nice crowded evening at Raw Sugar Cafe on December 20th.
Playing at the show were:

Ketch Harbour Wolves @ Zaphods

On December 19th, I decided to hit up Zaphod Beeblebrox to see Ketch Harbour Wolves play.
They are a band from Toronto and their music was describe as: Imagine the rich baritone of The National carried by Arcade Fire arrangements through a Leonard Cohen wilderness.
The band put on a really great set.
Other bands that opened for them were Montreal’s Murder Ford Monument and a new band from Ottawa called hotshotcasino.

It was a pretty decent show, more people showed up for Ketch Harbour Wolves.
I was amazed of seeing Murder Ford Monument and Ketch Harbour Wolves.

When I asked Murder Ford Monument where they were from.
I didn’t know they were from Montreal and I asked them if they knew Parlovr who played the night before.
They did know them, I was very surprised to hear that.
Music was very indie rock and heavy with the guitar work.
Can’t wait to listen to their album.

Hotshotcasino is from Ottawa.
A very new young band.
Music was indie rock and progressive (Whatever that means? Its on their Myspace).

Ketch Harbour Wolves came up.
Played some new tracks from a upcoming album for 2010 and stuff from the current album.
Totally enjoyed their set.
Rocking it and the audience enjoyed it.
Favorite part of the set when Jonathan Tyrrell who is the lead singer. Wanted to thank Amanda Putz for having their song played on CBC Radio 2.
I don’t think she wasn’t at the show.

Great Saturday night.

Diamond Rings, Parlovr and The Balconies @ Cafe Dekcuf

December 18th was surely a fun time at Cafe Dekcuf.
It was a festive holiday mood besides Cafe Dekcuf being cold when I got there.
